"I have walked past this restaurant almost every day as its next to my local tube station, Old Street .As its usually not too packed at lunchtime, I never visited, but last month decided to try it.
I have to report that we had a lovely midweek lunch – great food, good portions, friendly staff.
For a starter I had the Salt Chilli Fried Chicken and my partner had Mussels in Smoked Butter and Parsley. Both were excellent, together with a portion of super griddled Ember Bread with Aioli to soak up the juices. We shared a main of Wood Fried Monkfish with Chilli,Almond, Garlic – really enjoyable and very tasty, and, colourfully presented .
By this time we were discussing what we would order on our next visit – a greedy, but, healthy confirmation as to how much we were enjoying the food. The DM wine and cocktail list is concise but fine. Usually we would choose wine but on this occasion, , a couple pints of creamy Guiness were ordered and, went down very well.
At this stage, two greedy people were very satisfied, however, were tempted by a lovely chocolate dessert , served with Guiness ice cream.Overall, everything we ate was excellent- something which is rare for me to report.
I understand that there is an option of a short lunch menu ; three courses for £30.If the cooking and portions are as good as the food we chose from the A La Carte, this is a great bargain. Totally recommend!"
